Overview

In this Safety Manager role, you will steer NS&E safety activities for the SZC project, ensuring technical integration and replication of safety studies across disciplines. You will coordinate with SZC, RD entities, and NS&E teams to define safety objectives, manage risks, and deliver on-time, right-first-time safety tasks. The position sits within Framatome UK’s SZC-TD, contributing to a safer, more efficient nuclear program. Your work will directly support the project’s safety performance and regulatory compliance in a high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage interfaces with SZC stakeholders and Responsible Designer entities to justify replication activities
  • Coordinate replication of Safety studies from HPC to SZC with all stakeholders
  • Oversee change management activities in collaboration with SZC and NS&E
  • Collaborate with NS&E Discipline Group Lead to define safety objectives and share with NS&E Safety Teams
  • Define and align yearly SZC safety tasks with Client SZC and NS&E budget for delivery
  • Ensure timely NS&E Safety Teams delivery on Contract with SZC
  • Analyse potential Design Changes, NCRs, ICMs with NS&E Safety Technical Expertise and address issues
  • Review and approve technical deliverables by NS&E Safety Teams when SQEP is met
  • Present NS&E Safety progress across forums and report gaps in hours/costs for safety activities
  • Manage SZC project risks and opportunities related to safety tasks

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified Engineer in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Strong knowledge of Nuclear Safety for EPR or PWR designs
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry
  • Strategic thinking with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise across multiple workstreams
  • Ability to review complex technical documents clearly
  • Proactive approach to management and resolution of technical topics
  • Strong organisational and communication skills for liaising with multiple stakeholders
