Overview
In this role you will design and review electrical systems for water and wastewater projects, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver compliant, high‑quality solutions. You will engage in site surveys, create technical deliverables, and support bids while helping to advance AECOM’s digital design methods. You’ll mentor junior staff and ensure on‑time, on‑budget project delivery for major water clients. This is a hands‑on role at the intersection of tradition and innovation in critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Design and review electrical/ICA elements for water/wastewater projects
- Conduct site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers
- Prepare load schedules, single line diagrams, MCC arrangements, instrument schedules
- Carry out electrical installation and cable calculations; work with PLC/SCADA systems and URS/specifications
- Contribute to P&ID inputs, site surveys, and data gathering
- Support all design stages (Feasibility to Construction) ensuring compliance with standards
- Collaborate with cross‑discipline teams and mentor junior staff
- Assist bid preparation and client interfacing to shape proposals
- Ensure quality designs within budget and timelines for clients (e.g., Severn Trent, Yorkshire Water)
- Produce and review client deliverables (calculations, drawings, reports); support digital design initiatives (BIM, Projectwise, intelligent P&IDs, in‑house tools)
Key requirements
- Proven experience in water and wastewater design
- BEng or MEng in engineering
- Chartered or near‑Chartered professional
- Experience as a senior engineer in a consultancy within the water sector
- Experience managing projects, delegating tasks, and mentoring
- Effective communication with clients and teammates
- Mentoring and leadership of junior staff
