Overview
As a C&I Sales Specification Engineer, you drive specified demand for fire detection and alarm solutions across England, balancing field visits with home-based work. You will engage with consultants, engineers, and architects to influence system design and compliance, guiding opportunities from early design through tender. You’ll provide market feedback to product teams and maintain accurate CRM reporting, contributing to growth in a leading fire solutions business. This role offers significant travel across key regions and a path to impact through specification-driven sales.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with fire consultants, M&E consultants, consulting engineers, architects, and design houses
- Influence system architecture, device selection, and compliance approaches per BS 5839-1
- Identify early-stage and pre-tender projects across sectors
- Convert design engagements into protected specification opportunities through to tender
- Support consultants with system selection, network design, and compliance interpretation
- Defend specifications via value engineering and cost-down exercises
- Provide feedback to product management on market needs and consultant preferences
- Maintain accurate CRM project reporting and share market insights with leadership
Key requirements
- Experience in commercial and institutional (C&I) building projects
- Technical background within fire detection systems
- Electrical engineering degree
- Ability to build strong client relationships and influence design at early project stages
- Highly self-motivated with proactive approach and strong initiative
- Proven sales track record – desirable
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
