Overview
In this Senior Sales Engineer role, you partner with account teams to tackle complex analytics challenges using AI, automation, and cloud data platforms. You act as a trusted technical advisor across cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem environments, guiding discovery, value-driven demos, and proof concepts for qualified opportunities. You’ll help customers modernize analytics and scale decision‑making while staying current on market trends. This is a hands‑on role that blends technical depth with cross‑functional collaboration and a growth mindset.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives on qualified opportunities, focusing on new logo acquisition and analytics modernization, AI adoption, automation, and cloud data platforms
- Lead technical discovery with business and technical stakeholders to understand objectives, architecture, data landscape, and success criteria
- Design and deliver demos, workshops, and POVs/POCs across cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem deployments to show value
- Evaluate solution approaches for data preparation, analytics automation, AI-driven workflows, and cloud data platform integration
- Address architecture, connectivity, governance, security, scalability, and deployment questions
- Support technical validation through proposals, RFP responses, and opportunity strategy for complex deals
- Identify expansion opportunities within existing customers by mapping pain points to Alteryx capabilities and driving broader platform adoption
- Stay current on Alteryx products, competitive landscape, and market trends in AI and cloud data platforms
- Share field feedback and best practices with the SE organization and mentor less experienced team members
Key requirements
- 4+ years of pre‑sales, sales engineering, or related experience in enterprise software with strong analytics/BI/data engineering/automation experience
- Experience across two or more domains such as analytics, ETL/ELT, cloud data platforms, AI/ML workflows, automation, or enterprise data architecture
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP and exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Microsoft Fabric; relevant certifications are a plus
- Understanding of analytics workflows, data integration, governance, automation, and modern analytics in governed enterprise environments
- Experience with on‑premises and cloud data sources connectivity (APIs, ODBC/JDBC, OAuth, SSO)
- Ability to engage with technical and business stakeholders and convey complex concepts clearly
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, Apache Spark is a plus; experience with Alteryx or similar analytics platforms is desirable
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and align with the sales process
