As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies for diverse, high-profile projects. You’ll guide design through concept to handover, supervise fire modelling, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You’ll drive technical excellence on major bids and client-facing workshops, shaping best practice across the Buildings team. Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences, and regeneration projects
- Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling, and smoke control strategies with internal specialists
- Ensure designs meet regulations and Stantec quality processes (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN)
- Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multi-disciplinary schemes
- Lead client meetings, workshops, and regulatory consultations; provide clear, commercially aware advice
- Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
- Support business growth through fee proposals, bid writing, and strategic pursuits
- Mentor junior Fire Engineers and contribute to ongoing technical excellence and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to internal thought leadership within Stantec’s Fire Engineering community
- Promote a culture of collaboration and high standards across the team
Key requirements
- Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
- Proficiency in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
- Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
- Proactive, collaborative mindset aligned with company values
- Degree in Fire Engineering or related discipline (MEP, Structural, Building Services with fire specialism)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards with IFE or equivalent
