Design Manager

Overview

As a Design Management Leader at AECOM, you will guide the Design Management team and collaborate with leadership to drive project delivery across the UK and internationally. You will shape processes, mentor juniors, and oversee quality and compliance with contractual obligations. The role combines people leadership, financial oversight, and design governance to support a portfolio of infrastructure projects. Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Design Management team, including business development and performance reviews
• Mentor and develop team members through training and formal reviews
• Oversee financial processes and invoicing related to Design Management
• Contribute to business planning and monitor progress against targets
• Manage Design Management projects domestically and internationally
• Review outputs for quality and contractual compliance before issue
• Prepare and manage sub-consultant responsibilities, back-to-back contracts, and contract updates
• Prepare cash flow projections and establish invoicing procedures for sub-consultants
• Track sub-consultant invoices and prepare monthly financial reports
• Develop and implement Design Management procedures (roles, scope, deliverables, budgets, approvals, meetings, coordination)
• Support and manage the Design Management team and ensure adherence to AECOM processes
• Achieve AECOM PM accreditation and lead design projects per financial systems
• Mentor junior team members and ensure quality/compliance of outputs
