Overview
In this Senior Drainage Engineer role, you will lead the design and delivery of drainage solutions for infrastructure and development projects. You’ll work within a client-facing, employee-owned consultancy known for high-quality engineering design across varied schemes. You’ll shape drainage strategies, manage technical approvals, and mentor junior staff to ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities
- Liaise with clients, authorities, and stakeholders to secure technical approvals (S104, S106, S185, SAB, LLFA)
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Prepare fee proposals, invoices, and monitor budgets and deadlines
- Attend design team and site meetings; provide technical support during construction
- Develop drainage strategies and detailed designs for private and adoptable systems (foul and surface water)
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports per planning policy
- Produce hydraulic modelling and drainage design using industry software
- Produce technical drawings and specifications
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and technical development
Key requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ drainage design experience for development infrastructure
- BEng/MEng/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered status or working towards it
- Strong understanding of SuDS, Flood Risk, Building Regulations, DCG, and national planning policy
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam
