Overview

In this role you will lead town planning and consenting work on major infrastructure projects, collaborating across disciplines to secure approvals. You will advise clients, coordinate consent applications, and engage with statutory bodies. You will provide technical oversight, mentor colleagues, and help grow project management capabilities within a consultancy context. This is a chance to shape outcomes on nationally significant projects and advance sustainable infrastructure. You will join a focused team within a market-leading infrastructure planning practice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage or lead town planning or consenting work on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs etc).
  • Provide technical advice to clients and manage their consenting requirements.
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of consent applications under relevant planning regimes.
  • Support negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients.
  • Lead engagement with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical oversight.
  • Foster positive relationships within project teams and disciplines.
  • Proactively develop own knowledge and expand the team’s internal knowledge base.
  • Oversee project finances and project management aspects, ideally within a consultancy.

Key requirements

  • Degree in Town Planning (or equivalent)
  • Member of RTPI
  • Experience in securing consents for major or nationally significant infrastructure via statutory regimes (TCPA 1990, Planning Act 2008, TWAO).
  • Ability to lead town planning or consenting inputs within multi-disciplinary projects.
