Group Financial Accountant

Overview

In this Finance leadership role, you will drive accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and external audit across the Nominet Group. You’ll lead month-end close, statutory accounts, and balance sheet integrity while managing a small finance team. Your expertise will shape internal controls, tax strategy, and board-facing reporting in a fast-moving tech environment. This is a chance to influence governance, optimise tax positions, and support strategic decisions with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close and ensure timely financial reporting (Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).
• Prepare statutory accounts for all Group entities and own the external audit process.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable operations and develop two team members.
• Own and maintain the Group Accounting Manual; ensure balance sheet reconciliations are complete and accurate.
• Lead tax accounting and reporting for Corporation Tax, R&D, VAT, PAYE and other employment taxes with external advisors.
• Provide expert guidance on accounting standards, company law, and HMRC regulations; share updates across the business.
• Act as super user on the finance system; support finance and wider business in effective usage.
• Contribute to budgets, reforecasts, and internal reporting with insightful executive-level commentary.

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• Experience leading and mentoring a small finance team
• Comfortable with pace and multiple deadlines; proactive and outcome-driven
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with senior stakeholders
• Experience in the technology or digital sector
• High level of systems proficiency and Excel; able to improve finance system usage
