Director of Insurance

Overview

In this executive role, you will own the Group’s global insurance strategy, shaping complex multinational programmes and driving risk financing decisions. You’ll partner with senior leaders across finance, treasury and operations to ensure insurance remains strategically aligned with long‑term objectives. You’ll oversee captive governance, scale multinational placements, and advise on emerging risks and market trends. This is a highly influential position set in a globally recognised organisation where insurance enables growth and resilience. You will influence Group-wide decisions and tackle some of the most complex risk challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the global P&C insurance strategy
• Design optimal risk financing solutions (including captive and alternative risk transfer)
• Lead placement and management of multinational insurance programmes
• Oversee governance of the captive insurance company
• Ensure local programmes align with Group standards and compliance
• Drive claims governance and programme performance improvements
• Advise executives on emerging risks and market trends
• Identify commercial opportunities where insurance supports growth and customer propositions

Key requirements

• Experience leading insurance strategy in a large corporate or multinational organization
• Management of complex global P&C programmes
• Captive insurance management and ADR structures
• Corporate risk management and governance
• Experience working with Boards, EXCOMs, and senior finance stakeholders
• Ability to deliver solutions across multiple international jurisdictions
• Commercial acumen and strong analytical capabilities
• Advantageous professional qualifications (ACII, IRM)
