In this role you will design Protection & Control systems for HV/EHV substations, shaping important energy infrastructure projects. You’ll work with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality designs and support commissioning and issue resolution. Responsibilities

  • Prepare Protection & Control designs for HV/EHV substations (11kV–400kV or above)
  • Develop Protection SLDs, AC/DC Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Terminal Plans, Cable Schedules, Interconnection Diagrams
  • Design Protection Relay Panels, Control Panels, Annunciation Panels, Metering Panels, RTU/SCADA interfaces
  • Prepare relay settings philosophy and coordinate with system studies
  • Perform protection coordination and review relay configurations
  • Prepare engineering calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, battery sizing)
  • Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom, and SCADA teams
  • Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical issue resolution
  • Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, National Grid and client standards
  • Support project execution by meeting quality, safety, and schedule requirements

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in HV/EHV Substation Protection & Control Design
  • Knowledge of protection schemes for Transmission and Distribution substations
  • Experience with protection relays from Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, or SEL
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • CDAE qualification is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems is advantageous
  • Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, SAS, and communication protocols
  • Ability to independently deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages
  • Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments is advantageous
