Emerging Market FX Trader

Overview

In this role, you will serve clients across 145+ currencies, executing FX trades and quoting prices from major platforms. You’ll collaborate with UK and US desks to ensure seamless client coverage and support daily volumes, while managing end-of-day P&L reporting and positions. You’ll act as a liaison across global desks, drive improvements with the Middle Office, and build expertise in selected EMs to inform market and regulatory insight. You will cultivate liquidity partner relationships and identify compliant market opportunities at scale.

Responsibilities

• Quote clients in 145+ currencies and execute FX trades on systems such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv FXT, and 360T
• Collaborate with UK and US trading desks for comprehensive client coverage and daily volume support
• Manage EOD UK position reporting and P&L entry with accuracy and timeliness
• Liaise across global trading desks to ensure operational alignment and effective communication
• Coordinate with settlements and Middle Office, proposing improvements when gaps are found
• Develop EM market competencies and stay updated on market developments and regulatory/compliance aspects
• Maintain and develop relationships with liquidity providers
• Identify market opportunities and establish compliant processes to offer suitable client solutions

Key requirements

• 5+ years in EM FX Sales and/or Trader role in a bank or fintech
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) if fewer than 10 years of experience
• Strong knowledge of African markets, with deliverable FX; other EMs a plus
• Good knowledge of derivatives, including Non-Deliverable Forwards and FX Options
• Some travel required
