Overview
As Contract Manager at Tractebel UK, you lead commercial and contractual activities across complex engineering projects, from tendering to close-out. You safeguard the company’s position through effective change control, risk, and financial management, while advising project teams on commercial matters. Responsibilities
- Develop contract documentation and management plans across the project lifecycle
- Lead governance, risk, performance, and financial management with the Project Manager
- Maintain accurate contract records including spend and outcomes
- Monitor contract performance against KPIs and drive corrective actions
- Conduct market research to inform contract decisions
- Validate invoices and ensure timely payment schedules
- Prepare and negotiate contract variations and exemption requests
- Interpret contract terms and educate parties on responsibilities
- Foster relationships with suppliers and customers; resolve routine issues and escalate complex ones
- Support export control compliance and licensing processes as required
- Mentor junior engineers and share expertise with the team
- Support group contractual strategy through review of expiring contracts
- Ensure alignment with group procedures and transition management
Key requirements
- Experience in contract development and/or management or relevant project management
- Knowledge of UK contract models in energy/construction, especially NEC
- Experience with consortium agreements and management
- Possession of or progress towards a relevant qualification
- Knowledge of public, nuclear and defence contract policies and directions
