Overview

In this role you will lead engineering teams to deliver the Mains Replacement Programme, ensuring safety, compliance, and customer excellence. You will work closely with stakeholders to protect Cadent’s reputation and meet client expectations. You’ll drive safe, compliant delivery of works while managing costs and schedule. This position offers the chance to shape project execution and safety culture within a major gas infrastructure programme.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate engineering teams to deliver the Mains Replacement Programme to safety and quality standards
  • Manage project scope, cost, and schedule in line with legislative and Cadent standards
  • Act as a competent person for relevant operations and oversee safety, risk, and incident reporting
  • Engage with stakeholders including local authorities to maintain reputational standards and ensure customer-focused delivery
  • Drive performance, team engagement, toolbox talks, and safety culture while addressing issues and improvements
  • Support Area Manager with improvements and lead on initiatives
  • Handle customer queries, claims, and complaints professionally and expediently
  • Undertake standby and call-out duties and contribute to temporary works supervision
  • Ensure compliance through audits, inspections, and action on improvement areas
  • Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role

Key requirements

  • Gas supervisory experience beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to lead a team and drive performance
  • Site management experience
  • High standards of safety and customer culture
  • Working knowledge of codes of practice, safety and statutory regulations
  • Experience delivering works safely and compliantly
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience in SCO procedures (beneficial)
  • Current UK driving licence
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Competent Person for routine operations (SCO5)
  • Authorising Engineer for permit to work for excavations (SCO2)
  • Temporary Works Appointed Person (Temporary Work Supervisor – BS5975)
