Principal Metallurgy Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will provide metallurgy expertise to support onshore oil and gas design phases, focusing on material selection and corrosion control. You will work closely with engineering disciplines and procurement to ensure material readiness and compliance. Based in Woking, you will review specifications, advise on corrosion mitigation, and analyze field performance. This position offers a pathway into complex projects that shape safe, reliable infrastructure in a dynamic energy context.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve material specifications for piping and equipment
• Guide corrosion mitigation and material compatibility
• Conduct failure analysis and advise on material performance issues
• Support design calculations related to material stress resistance
• Interface with engineering disciplines and procurement for material supply
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and client specifications

Key requirements

• Significant experience in metallurgical engineering for oil & gas projects
• Strong understanding of material degradation mechanisms and coatings
• Ability to review design specifications for metallurgy and welding practices

• Knowledge of corrosion control
• Knowledge of coatings and material degradation mechanisms
• Understanding of welding practices
• Familiarity with NDT practices (nice to have)
• Experience with Aramco SAES standards (desirable)
