Overview

In this role you will build technically robust, commercially informed risk assessments and pricing for ESG Re, supporting growth in climate and resilience solutions. You will partner with the Head of Sustainability and underwriters to translate complex risks into insurable structures and scalable pricing. You will blend quantitative analysis with business judgment to back new revenue streams and close protection gaps. Responsibilities

  • Assess technical submissions across climate, nature, health, conflict and systemic risks, evaluating exposure and rate-on-line guidance.
  • Analyze data to develop transparent risk assessments and pricing approaches aligned with business objectives.
  • Challenge assumptions, methods, and outputs to ensure technical rigour and alignment with Sustainability Strategy.
  • Serve as technical advisor on expected losses, pricing, renewal considerations, and treaty/portfolio structures.
  • Translate unconventional proposals into insurable structures with disciplined pricing to convert pipelines into bound business.
  • Support product structuring for innovative solutions (parametric, index-based, blended-finance-backed, sovereign risk pools).
  • Prepare technical insights for market discussions with brokers, NGOs, multilaterals, and governments; articulate pricing rationale and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate across pricing, model development, data improvement and broader Sustainability initiatives.

Key requirements

  • Experience in (re)insurance pricing, risk analysis, catastrophe modelling, or reinsurance underwriting.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets, evaluate reinsurance structures and perform technical risk assessments.
  • Comfort challenging assumptions, pricing methodologies, and model outputs in data-constrained environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with influence over senior stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of catastrophe modelling, climate risk analytics, or parametric product design and their limits in emerging markets.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including NGOs and governments.
