Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager you lead the engineering org responsible for the full BigChange product suite, guiding legacy modernization to microservices and mobile platforms. You partner with executive leadership to translate strategy into technical roadmaps, embedding an AI-first culture to boost delivery velocity and code quality. You manage cross-functional teams and drive high-impact initiatives that scale our SaaS platform for thousands of users. This role blends people leadership with hands-on technical stewardship in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor engineering leaders and engineers, conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and merit cycles
  • Build a high-trust culture with hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts in Leeds
  • Provide a supportive, people-first leadership presence
  • Bridge legacy systems with modern architectures (.NET 4.6.2/WebForms to C# .NET 8, microservices on AWS EKS)
  • Lead full-stack platforms across Web, Mobile, and Backend
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS EC2/EKS) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
  • Supervise multi-model data environments (SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data pipelines (Snowflake, FiveTran)
  • Oversee observability (New Relic), security (Snyk, Auth0), and incident management (PagerDuty, FlagSmith)
  • Set and communicate technical vision across web, cloud, and mobile platforms
  • Manage platform migration to AWS EKS and microservices for reliability and scalability
  • Drive engineering excellence with high standards for code quality, testing, and debt management (AI-first)
  • Lead AI-first SDLC transformation, measure progress with DX Core 4, and remove delivery bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with Product, Commercial, and leadership to balance feature delivery with maintenance and debt
  • Steer incident response and vendor relationships during high-priority incidents and partnerships

Key requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering leadership in a fast-paced SaaS environment
  • Hands-on mobile and systems architecture experience (iOS/Android/React Native/Flutter)
  • Experience navigating legacy + cloud microservices hybrid environments
  • Proven track record in cloud infrastructure and CI/CD leadership
  • Executive communication skills and ability to translate technical challenges to non-technical stakeholders
