Overview
As a licensed aircraft engineer, you will lead from the front to ensure safe, compliant aircraft delivery from base maintenance to terminal operations. You will work within the Engineering Base Maintenance team at Heathrow, overseeing Resource and Technical Management to protect operational integrity. You’ll troubleshoot, support colleagues, and drive quality improvements while collaborating with planners, flight crews, and engineers. This role offers visibility, accountability and a clear path to develop your engineering career in a world-class operation.
Responsibilities
- Deliver operation to defined production targets aligned with maintenance plan
- Provide leadership to maintenance colleagues and manage day-to-day expectations
- Allocate tasks per maintenance plan
- Champion quality standards, monitor trends, and implement permanent improvements
- Communicate aircraft in-work status and coordinate between Planning and Production
- Serve as the primary contact for engineers, flight crew and planning
- Provide technical support as first point of contact for operational staff
- Offer technical feedback to stakeholders and support engineers with complex issues
- Engage directly with engineers to rectify defects
- Operate in a frontline role supporting safety, airworthiness and operation integrity
Key requirements
- B licence with demonstrable certifying experience in aircraft maintenance
- CAA C licence (Essential in Base Maintenance)
- Valid full UK driving licence (desirable)
- Airport restricted zone access (essential for Terminal-based role)
- Airside driving licence (desirable)
- Knowledge/experience in structural repairs, ramp operations or base area
- Desirable CRS on relevant Aircraft Types
- Knowledge of safety and quality management systems
- Experience working in an Engineering satellite office
