Overview
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead commercial governance for a major NEC-based project in the power sector, delivering robust cost control and subcontractor management. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, delivery, and commercial teams, combining on-site oversight with strong financial reporting to stakeholders. The role centers on a 13km cable route project in London, demanding governance, change control, and early warnings to protect project value. You’ll mentor peers, influence contract strategy, and contribute to the client’s broader commercial success.

Responsibilities
- Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts with strong governance
- Manage high-value subcontractor accounts including variations, claims, and final accounts
- Produce and present CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports to senior stakeholders
- Provide commercial leadership to QS/SQS colleagues on the project
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and audit compliance
- Support on-site presence to assist commercial, operational, and client needs
- Manage change control, early warnings, and compensation events
- Collaborate with engineering, delivery, and commercial teams on cost, risk, and programme
- Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
Key requirements
- Extensive experience on live NEC projects in commercial management or quantity surveying
- Strong subcontractor management including negotiation and final accounts
- Proven CVR, forecasting, and cost management expertise
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (RICS accredited preferred)
- Strong technical mindset, high attention to detail, and solid work ethic
- Experience on cable routes, civil engineering, utilities, or M&E schemes
- Ability to mentor junior commercial team members
