Overview

In this role you will lead on-site geoenvironmental delivery for a major linear infrastructure project in the Northwest while contributing to broader consultancy work from Warrington or Manchester. You will manage ground investigation activities, coordinate contractors, and maintain quality and HSSE standards, with a rotation of on-site and office-based work. The position combines practical site leadership with involvement in proposals, data interpretation, and technical reporting. You’ll join a collaborative Energy and Resources team that values experienced, proactive delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day site management and coordination of ground investigation works
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors and subcontractors
  • Maintain programme, quality oversight and HSSE compliance
  • Act as Principal Contractor for defined work packages
  • Maintain accurate site records (diaries, progress, photos, quality registers) and escalate issues
  • Manage interfaces between work packages and ensure safe, efficient delivery
  • Off-site: contribute to proposals, workplans, data interpretation and technical reporting

Key requirements

  • Experience in geoenvironmental consultancy, ground investigation, contaminated land, engineering geology or ground engineering
  • Strong track record of arranging, planning and coordinating site works (mobilisation, logistics, contractor interfaces, site documentation)
  • Ability to manage contractors against scope, programme, quality and HSSE requirements
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permits and incident reporting
  • Clear communication with clients, contractors, landowners and multidisciplinary teams
  • Chartered status or progress towards it (welcome)
