Overview
In this senior NPI leadership role, you will bridge R&D and manufacturing to shape and industrialise new electronic products. You’ll lead a cross-functional team through stage-gate processes, driving DfX and robust cost/schedule management. You’ll collaborate with procurement and suppliers to secure readiness and ramp production, ensuring smooth product introductions. Responsibilities
- Direct cross-functional manufacturing and process engineering teams to take concepts from RFQ to production handover
- Lead products through stage-gate processes (AS9145, APQP) from concept to production
- Promote Design for Manufacturability, Testability, and Cost to ensure robust, cost-effective designs
- Manage Manufacturing Readiness Levels and FMEA to identify and mitigate risks early
- Coordinate with procurement and external suppliers to ensure component availability and capability
- Identify and address PFMEA and RCCA root causes to reduce technical and supply risks
- Set up project baselines for cost, schedule, and quality; report to senior leadership
- Develop manufacturing plans, work instructions, tooling, and fixtures for new products
- Chair NPI gate processes, Design Gate reviews, and Production Readiness Reviews
- Align R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to achieve launch goals
- Oversee MRL assessments and maturation for stable production lines
- Use ERP/MRP and PLM systems for configuration control and BOM management
- Apply lean, Six Sigma, and PRINCE2/PMP methodologies to drive delivery
- Interpret complex drawings, BOMs, and GD&T specifications
- Apply advanced manufacturing knowledge including SMT/PCBA and automation
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Significant manufacturing experience with 2–3 years in a leadership role
- Experience in highly regulated environments (Aerospace/Defence/Space)
- Expertise in AS9100, AS9145, J-STD-001
- Ability to obtain/maintain national security clearance
- Proficiency with MS Project or Smartsheet and PMP/PRINCE2 (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of PCBA, SMT, and microelectronics assembly processes
- Lean, Six Sigma, PRINCE2 or PMP methodologies
- Experience with ERP/MRP tools (SAP, Oracle) and PLM software
- Strong PFMEA, RCCA, and ATE understanding
- Analytical, data-driven decision-making to optimize cycle times and costs
- Ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, and GD&T
- Experience with CNC, automation, or electro-mechanical manufacturing processes
