Naval Installation Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support maritime installation of naval weapon systems across shipyards and platforms, interfacing with MoD, UK industry, and export customers. You will handle installation activities, weapon system alignment, and installation inspection, while raising quality notifications when issues arise. You’ll manage tooling design and delivery and produce installation documentation and ship constants. The position involves travel and working away from home as needed, with scope for future programmes and a focus on safe, compliant delivery within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Support maritime installation and interface with shipyard stakeholders
• Assist with Weapon System Alignment and Installation Inspection (II) activities
• Inspect and investigate issues on ships and raise quality notifications
• Manage design and delivery of installation tooling
• Raise Task Instructions, Purchase Requisitions and concessions (where applicable)
• Create and maintain Ship Constants Generator Tools; derive ship constants for maritime platforms
• Produce and maintain installation documentation

Key requirements

• Qualified to an HNC level or higher in an engineering or science discipline
• Experience or training in naval platform installation and weapon system alignment
• Good systems thinking/engineering approach
• Willingness to learn and adopt new methods
• Ability to work autonomously and move around ships/shipyards
• Willingness to travel (including extended periods)
• British Citizen or dual UK national for security clearance requirements
