Overview

In this role you will implement and govern the Project Risk Management process for a Leonardo UK line of business, acting as the subject-matter expert on the risk framework. You’ll provide independent oversight, assurance and governance to Integrated Project Teams and support risk activities across the full lifecycle from bid to execution. You will drive a mature risk culture, deliver decision-focused insights, and mentor junior risk managers while collaborating with cross-functional teams across sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge to ensure compliance with risk policies, standards and governance
  • Support IPTs to identify, assess and manage risks and opportunities with clear, high-quality risk information
  • Define, monitor and continuously improve the Risk Management Framework and its implementation
  • Advise on risk treatment and mitigation strategies; align contingency setting with risk exposure and appetite
  • Perform post-treatment residual risk analysis (Monte Carlo) to inform project forecasts and decisions
  • Produce risk reports for governance—timely, accurate, decision-focused
  • Aggregate/analyze risk trends and AI predictive analysis across projects to spot systemic issues
  • Mentor and support Project Risk Managers; facilitate risk workshops and governance forums
  • Review risk registers, assumptions, quantification, and mitigation plans for robustness
  • Provide input to internal reviews or audits and respond to ad hoc risk requests
  • Support assurance activities and risk deliverables for customer submissions
  • Promote data quality in risk data collection/storage and maintain risk knowledge base
  • Drive continuous improvement actions from lessons learned and audits
  • Analyze business processes via KPIs/KRIs to strengthen risk management practices
  • Assist with risk- and governance-related training and coaching to teams

Key requirements

  • Degree in a technical or business subject
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise and project risk management frameworks and standards
  • Highly numerate with experience in statistical and financial modelling (Monte Carlo techniques)
  • Understanding of contingency setting and management aligned to risk exposure
  • Ability to translate complex risk information into clear, decision-focused insight
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate with senior management
  • Capability to lead workshops and present technical details to large teams
  • Coaching ability in one-to-one and group settings
  • Security Clearance (BPSS) with potential NSV/SC/DV considerations
