Principal EICA Design Engineer (Water Sector)

Overview

In this role, you will lead EICA design for water infrastructure projects within the AMP8 programme, working both independently and with the Water Engineering team to deliver technical solutions from tender to commissioning. You will prepare and review EICA deliverables, engage with clients, and mentor junior ICA staff. The role blends complex design work with site surveys and safety compliance, across a diverse project portfolio. You will operate within a collaborative, globally connected firm.

Responsibilities

• Deliver EICA design inputs for infrastructure projects
• Prepare and review EICA deliverables (specs, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, user requirements)
• Review tender evaluations
• Support scoping, task identification, resourcing and estimates
• Ensure DSEAR and explosive atmosphere considerations are incorporated
• Coordinate inspection, testing, commissioning activities for ICA equipment
• Attend factory acceptance tests for panel, PLC/HMI, and SCADA
• Coach and mentor ICA junior staff

Key requirements

• Degree qualified (IET accredited) in electrical or control engineering or equivalent HND with substantial experience
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer registration with Engineering Council
• Extensive EICA design experience for water infrastructure
• Experience preparing/reviewing technical specs, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, and drawings
• Knowledge of DSEAR, electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, and CDM for installations
• Strong client-facing skills and ability to work with clients and teams or independently
• Willingness to travel to operational and construction sites and ensure safety
• Practical understanding of electrical safe systems of work
