Solution Architect (Trust Retail)

Overview

In this role you will design end-to-end technical solutions for Trust Payments’ retail SaaS platform, acting as the main technical voice across product and engineering. You’ll align architecture with business needs, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure security, scalability, and reliability. The position offers a hands-on, collaborative environment with on-call responsibilities, contributing to a fast-growing fintech. You will help drive architectural standards and mentor engineering teams while shaping the technical direction of the Retail portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Define and design end-to-end technical solutions aligned with business needs and direction
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to bridge product and technical teams
• Create high-level and low-level architectural designs, diagrams, and documentation
• Propose technologies, frameworks, and platforms in collaboration with the Technical Lead
• Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable
• Serve as the technical authority across the development lifecycle and across teams
• Guide and mentor development teams on architecture decisions and best practices
• Conduct code and design reviews to ensure adherence to architecture standards
• Ensure solutions comply with security, regulatory, and compliance requirements
• Assist in evaluating and managing technical debt, risks, and mitigations
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, internally and with external clients
• Participate in an on-call rota for 24/7 support approximately every 5–6 weeks
• Acknowledge fair workload distribution and TOIL accrual for out-of-hours work

Key requirements

• 7+ years’ experience as a senior developer, solution architect, or similar technical leadership role
• Thorough knowledge of software architecture, development practices, and object-oriented design
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud services
• Solid experience in software design with security in mind
• Good working knowledge of databases and SQL, particularly MySQL
• Solid experience with microservice-based architectures
• Understanding of Agile methodology and processes
