Overview
As Senior Buyer, you will shape a cohesive, brand-aligned product range for ASOS’s Own Buy portfolio. You work closely with Design, Merchandising and Technical teams to drive sales and margin across global markets. You will anticipate customer needs using data and trends, identify opportunities, and push the range to meet brand and divisional strategy. You’ll lead cross-functional initiatives, manage supplier partnerships, and champion sustainable materials where possible. This role offers impact on product direction and commercial success within a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop a cohesive department range aligned to brand strategy and commercial plan
- Shape product direction with Design to ensure brand alignment
- Deliver department KPIs, manage risks with Merchandising
- Leverage sales/trend data to deliver commercially strong ranges for global markets
- Identify gaps and opportunities to maximise dept performance while managing risk
- Maintain knowledge of planning and trading documents to inform category evolution
- Drive cost-saving initiatives for cost efficiency
- Range building considering Options, ALB, and global requirements with season-to-season flexibility
- Collaborate with Merchandising to learn from prior buys and keep within OTB
- Build relationships with internal teams and external suppliers
- Stay updated on global trends and competitor activity to inform strategy
- Embed Fashion with Integrity and Sustainability in team practices
- Engage with Marketing for brand-consistent messaging
- Set up a trialling calendar with key stakeholders
- Work with Sourcing to develop a robust supply base and partnerships
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and change initiatives
- Lead and develop a team of ABs and BAs, providing direction and development opportunities
- Motivate the team through recognition and feedback
Key requirements
- Significant experience as Junior Buyer/Buyer in a fast-paced, global retailer
- Proven ability to drive department success through creative and commercial thinking
- Creative eye with strong trend awareness and market understanding
- Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to gain buy-in from team and management to pursue opportunities
- Commercial mindset using data and insights to influence decisions
- In-depth knowledge of planning and trading documents and ability to challenge figures
- Experience using market insights to inform business decisions
- Strong awareness of global trends, competitors, and pricing/trading activity
- Strong stakeholder and supplier relationship-building
- Inclusive leadership style with clear direction and development for the team
