Project Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will manage the design and delivery of water and wastewater projects within a dynamic design‑and‑build environment. You will lead design from outline to detailed stages, coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams to meet programme and quality targets. There is a clear path toward chartership and ongoing professional development. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to turn designs into reality in a large, collaborative enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design and through construction, commissioning and handover
• Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and technical specialists to deliver on programme, budget, and quality
• Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues
• Maintain strong client relationships and promote a one-team approach across project stakeholders
• Operate within the project triangle with Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to consider technical, constructability and commercial aspects
• Ensure designs comply with framework and industry specifications
• Support multi-disciplinary collaboration and timely delivery of design milestones
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team

Key requirements

• Accredited Degree in Engineering – Civil, Mechanical, Process and Electrical
• Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution
• Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects
• Knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
