Senior Electrical Engineer- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

Overview

In this Senior Electrical Design Engineer role, you will lead designs for energy storage, solar, and grid connection projects across 11kV–400kV. You’ll contribute to FEED, feasibility, and detailed design for renewable energy assets, including BESS, across UK and Europe. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions and support bidding and quality management. Responsibilities

• Lead FEED, feasibility studies and planning design for energy storage and grid connection projects
• Design BESS balance of plant and coordinate grid connection solutions (11kV–400kV)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative energy solutions
• Support bidding, project and quality management activities
• Develop designs for collocated BESS with renewables (PV, wind, pumped storage)
• Provide design assurance on new builds and existing assets

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in FEED, detailed design, or owner’s engineer roles
• Knowledge of battery storage technology and grid connection requirements
• Experience designing HV grid connections and metering for BESS with renewables
• Experience in energy sector consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or utility
• Knowledge of grid codes (G99, G100) and transmission-connected assets
• Familiarity with electrical plant items and control systems (transformers, cables, CBs, HV protection & control)
• Experience with software tools (AutoCAD, EnergyPro, CYMCAP, Cableizer, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, DigSILENT)
• Desirable: project management experience; professional registration (Chartered)
