Divisional Technical Services Manager – MEP

Overview

In this role you lead the building services delivery for the Science and Health Major Projects cluster, shaping design delivery and coordination. You will guide a team across preconstruction and design stages, ensuring robust technical and cost proposals and close client engagement. You’ll identify risks, drive quality, and coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to deliver innovative MEP solutions. This is a chance to expand the Technical Services scope within a global contractor, shaping projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation and outputs at project stages and lead TSMs, design managers, MEP estimators, and MEP commercial managers
• Act as a key member of work-winning teams to offer innovative and competitive building services solutions while managing risk and demonstrating technical expertise
• Provide hands-on management during preconstruction to meet design deliverables and develop cost and technical proposals; engage with clients, suppliers, and consultants
• Coordinate and line-manage TSMs; audit designs to identify inconsistencies and track closeouts in an Information Required Schedule format
• Identify and manage risk from drawings, specs, release dates, programme and procurement
• Chair or support delivery workshops with subcontractors and client management; develop design and workshop drawings; coordinate between trades
• Review design development with the Commercial Manager and MEP Estimators to align design and commercial aspects
• Chair/support Design Team Meetings with consultant designers and track information from DTM’s; ensure quality service aligned with project goals

Key requirements

• Background in delivering building services on major science and health projects
• Understanding of building construction sequencing and ability to challenge design for compliance and coordination
• Ability to lead and manage a team to meet design output for traditional and Design & Build contracts
• Commercial awareness and ability to support opportunities arising from design development; manage change control communication
• Experience presenting to clients as part of bid teams; contributing to tender documents and bids; involvement in business development
• Good time management and presentation skills; ability to chair meetings; self-motivated and proactive; able to work solo or in a team
