Overview

In this role you lead the Structural Group within Stantec’s Water offices, guiding a regional team and delivering hands-on design excellence. You will shape technical direction, mentor staff, and coordinate cross-site collaboration to meet budget, time, and quality targets. You’ll drive applied engineering solutions using state-of-the-art techniques, working closely with clients and internal teams to build trust and deliver impactful water infrastructure. This is a senior, action-oriented role with a clear impact on project outcomes and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, line management and team development for the Structural Group
  • Offer technical expertise in structural design to meet project needs with advanced techniques
  • Drive integrated work with Pune to enhance collaboration
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to quality standards
  • Influence stakeholders through strong technical knowledge and communication
  • Plan, forecast and coordinate resources with group managers
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of survey, design, drafting, project and contract management standards
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to build trust in the group’s capabilities
  • Provide training and mentoring to staff across responsibilities
  • Review others’ work and focus on key priorities
  • Support and develop team members regionally
  • Build relationships with new clients and stakeholders
  • Adopt a hands-on approach to project delivery

Key requirements

  • Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g. IStructE, ICE) with practical, hands-on experience in structural engineering
  • Degree qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar subject with knowledge of water retaining structures
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff
  • Experience overseeing project budgets and timelines for structural engineering aspects
  • Ability to prepare and review technical documents, reports, and proposals
