Overview
In this role you lead the development and industrialisation of electronics assembly processes for high-reliability UAS components. You will partner with Product Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to introduce new products, optimise manufacturing methods and ensure IPC and aerospace quality standards. You drive process validation, NPI transitions and continuous improvement to enable scalable, repeatable production in a regulated aerospace environment. This role offers the chance to shape best-in-class electronics assembly capabilities within a growing UK operation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for SMT, through-hole, PCB and harness assemblies; drive industrialisation and scale-up.
- Transfer processes into UK production operations and maintain documentation (work instructions, routings, process flows, SOPs).
- Lead NPI activities and ensure smooth transition from development to repeatable production.
- Lead process validation and production readiness reviews to support manufacturing growth.
- Ensure processes comply with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9100 and related quality standards.
- Develop PFMEAs, control plans, validation records; drive root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Specify and implement tooling, fixtures, and inspection aids; optimise AOI and test equipment.
- Lead Lean and CI initiatives; analyse performance and reduce waste, cycle times, and defects.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain; support engineering changes and provide guidance to operators.
