Engineering Consultant – Support Engineering

Overview

In this role you will shape data-driven engineering and sustainment strategies for submarine programmes. You will partner with engineering, IM&T, and stakeholders to create a seamless digital thread from design to in-service support, ensuring data governance and compliance with standards. You will lead initiatives that reduce lifecycle costs and improve asset performance through integrated data practices. This is a strategic, high-impact role shaping long-term engineering data management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of engineering-driven data strategies for lifecycle sustainment and optimisation
• Define the data, tools, and digital platforms needed to meet engineering and supportability needs
• Establish frameworks for data quality, integrity, traceability, and compliance with engineering and safety standards
• Drive integration across PLM, ERP, LSAR, reliability, safety, and analytics environments
• Collaborate with engineering leads, IM&T, and stakeholders to embed lifecycle-focused data practices
• Support delivery of engineering transformation initiatives focused on digital capability and data exploitation

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or equivalent technical discipline
• Experience in through-life engineering, supportability engineering, or digital engineering within defence or similarly complex engineering environments
• Proven experience leading engineering-driven change or transformation involving digital tools and data exploitation
• Understanding of engineering data management principles and lifecycle support requirements
• Knowledge of the CADMID lifecycle, support engineering principles, and relevant MOD/Def-Stan standards
• Experience delivering engineering data integration initiatives from governance through to analytics and decision support
