Overview

As Global Media Relations Director, you drive BCG’s external profile by shaping media strategy across campaigns, markets, and practice areas. You lead high-impact outreach, build senior media relationships, and guide content across channels. You’ll mentor team members, manage agency partners, and advance data-driven approaches and GenAI adoption to elevate visibility. This role blends strategic advisory with hands-on media execution to amplify BCG’s commercial priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership and spokespeople aligned to current news
  • Develop external communications plans and upstream media strategies for priority campaigns and markets
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and BCG experts
  • Create media assets such as pitch notes and talking points; execute hands-on media relations in key markets
  • Amplify topics across channels and collaborate with channel leads on innovative outreach
  • Serve as strategic advisor to Practice Areas and leadership on external profiles and issues
  • Develop and execute media training for leaders
  • Manage assigned Global Media Relations Team members
  • Lead crisis/m reputation management within scope and coordinate with teams
  • Oversee agency support and drive adoption of GenAI and new technologies in external affairs

Key requirements

  • 10-12+ years of experience shaping media strategy for major brands or portfolios
  • Proven management experience including performance management and team development
  • Experience delivering measurable B2B media and communications strategies for portfolios or regions
  • Ability to align content ideation with commercial objectives and media outcomes
  • Experience in writing for major outlets (preferred)
  • Deep senior-level media relationships with top-tier outlets
  • Experience leveraging new technologies to drive communications innovation and performance
  • Experience mentoring media professionals or agency partners
  • Knowledge of crisis response and reputation management processes
  • Experience managing external agencies and cross-functional teams
