Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage audit engagements from planning to completion within budgets and timelines
  • Plan, coordinate, and review audits for a varied client portfolio across multiple sectors
  • Develop and oversee audit strategies, risk assessments, and programmes tailored to client needs
  • Review financial statements and audit files to ensure compliance with accounting and auditing standards and regulations
  • Serve as primary client contact during the audit, delivering practical, commercially focused advice
  • Coach and develop audit team members and support their professional/technical growth
  • Monitor engagement progress and resolve technical/operational issues promptly
  • Ensure audit work meets firm quality standards and risk procedures
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and high client satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development with existing and prospective clients
  • Assist Partners/Directors with management and growth of the audit practice

Key requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ audit experience in a professional services environment
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients and leading engagements
  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with a broad range of clients across sectors
  • Commercially aware with ability to understand client needs and deliver practical solutions
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with multiple deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, independent worker with initiative
  • Experience in Big 4 or leading firms is advantageous but not essential
