Head of Finance

Overview

As Head of Finance, you will own financial performance, reporting, forecasting and controls for a growing SME. You will partner with senior leaders to provide commercial insight that drives decisions and growth, including analysis across sales, margins and costs. You will manage a Finance Manager and oversee the German subsidiary, influencing strategic initiatives and ensuring robust financial governance. This is a hands-on role with broad scope to shape profitability and cash flow while maintaining strong controls.

Responsibilities

• Own financial reporting, performance and control environment
• Deliver commercial analysis and insight to support business decisions
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes
• Analyze key drivers of profitability and operational performance
• Provide insight across sales channels, gross margin, logistics costs, marketing ROI, customer acquisition costs and inventory
• Manage and develop the Finance Manager
• Oversee the financial requirements of a German subsidiary

Key requirements

• Experience in Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Commercial Finance Manager or similar role
• Strong commercial analysis and business partnering experience
• Good knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial control
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Analytical, commercially minded and able to challenge assumptions
• Comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level
• Retail/ecommerce experience preferred
