Overview
As a Network Developer at AWS, you will shape and scale the global and regional network that underpins AWS cloud services. You will work within Network Planning and Acquisition to drive cost-efficient, high-performance connectivity across Europe and beyond. You’ll balance technical design with commercial strategy to expand backbone capacity, optimize topology, and partner with vendors to deliver scalable solutions. This role offers impact at cloud-scale, influencing infrastructure decisions that enable global growth and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Drive European metro and backbone network strategies
- Design and implement large-scale network architectures for global operations
- Develop and execute strategic network expansion plans with milestones
- Optimize network topology for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Monitor market trends and emerging technologies in telecommunications
- Identify and evaluate strategic suppliers for wavelengths, dark fiber, and submarine capacity
- Lead vendor strategy across Europe and maintain partnerships
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deploy new backbone capacity
- Collaborate with finance on budget planning and risk assessment
- Manage supplier onboarding, performance metrics, and service quality standards
- Balance business requirements with technical limitations and cost considerations
Key requirements
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience troubleshooting large-scale networks in corporate environments
- Hands-on experience with physical infrastructure installations and hardware integration
- Experience building financial models for forecasting and problem solving
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; experience in large-scale networking environments
- Experience with spectrum management and securing telecommunications licenses internationally
