Overview

In this role you serve as the technical authority for complex contaminated land, hydrogeology and groundwater modelling projects, guiding strategy, risk-based decision-making and quality assurance. You will lead investigations, develop and review subsurface models, and prepare risk assessments and reports while mentoring colleagues. The position supports growth of a collaborative, high-impact team and requires travel to UK offices and sites. You will shape outcomes for energy, infrastructure, industrial and regulated sectors, delivering responsible remediation and regulatory-aligned solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead on demanding contaminated land, hydrogeology and groundwater modelling projects
  • Provide technical review and quality assurance across projects
  • Guide modelling strategy and support risk-based decision-making
  • Design ground and hydrogeological investigations
  • Develop, review and apply conceptual, analytical and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models
  • Prepare and technically review hydrogeological risk assessments and contaminated land reports
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to service development
  • Support the growth of the team and participate in wider ERG initiatives
  • Travel to UK offices and project sites as required

Key requirements

  • Degree in a relevant discipline with MSc or PhD
  • Significant experience in hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment, groundwater risk assessment and environmental consultancy
  • capability in conceptual site model development and groundwater flow/contaminant transport modelling
  • Experience in reviewing and preparing technical reports and communicating complex findings
  • Strong professional judgement for high-consequence work
