Job Description:

Overview

Senior Practitioner in Coventry City Council’s Children’s Services, leading risk assessment and care planning for children and families. You will provide professional supervision, comply with Social Work England codes, and contribute to service development. The role requires flexible working and willingness to support families outside office hours. You will collaborate with other agencies to safeguard children and improve outcomes, within an outstanding, inclusive public service.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and manage risk in complex and urgent situations
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to other agencies and professionals
  • Supervise and support other staff in the team
  • Ensure high standards of practice and record keeping
  • Contribute to development and improvement of the service

Key requirements

  • Current registration with Social Work England
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods
  • Experience of carrying out statutory work in childcare/child protection
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with children, young people and families
