Overview
In this contract role, you will develop and implement QA/QC processes at a Defence & Security site in Plymouth to ensure products meet stringent standards. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive quality throughout production and construction, focusing on inspection, testing, and compliance. You will lead root cause analysis and CAPA activities to prevent recurrence of issues and support audits and quality system implementations. The position offers exposure to high-stakes environments with a clear impact on safety, reliability, and regulatory adherence. You will collaborate closely with the Principal Quality Engineer to shape quality improvements on a major defence project.
Responsibilities
- Developing and executing inspection and testing procedures
- Conducting root cause analysis and supporting problem-solving activities
- Monitoring production or construction processes for quality compliance
- Reviewing documentation and verifying materials/products meet specifications
- Supporting audits and quality system implementations
- Assisting in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Collecting and analysing quality data to identify trends and improvements
Key requirements
- Quality-related qualifications and industry experience, ISO standards
- Experience in a similar role, preferably within the Nuclear and Defence sector
- CSCS Green Labourer certification
- Strong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testing
- Familiarity with FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards
