Overview

As an Associate or Associate Director at WSP, you will play a senior leadership role delivering structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure. You’ll lead project teams, manage client relationships, and drive technical excellence and innovation across the portfolio. The role sits within the Building Structures team, contributing to nationally significant energy assets such as substations, transmission and distribution facilities, and OHL projects. This is a growth phase opportunity to shape UK energy infrastructure while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a global consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects
  • Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management
  • Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence
  • Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions
  • Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team

Key requirements

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body
  • Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership
  • Experience in substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, OHL projects, power stations, or petrochemical facilities (preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills
