Mechanical Design Manager

Overview

As Mechanical Design Manager, you will lead the design function and oversee end-to-end delivery of bespoke machinery. You’ll guide the Mechanical Design Team, ensure designs meet customer specifications, and drive continuous improvement across the department. You’ll work on projects from concept to manufacture, contributing to a culture of quality and efficiency. This role offers impact through shaping design processes and delivering high-spec, custom equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Mechanical Design Team
• Create detailed designs and supporting documentation for special purpose machinery
• Oversee design projects from concept through delivery
• Ensure mechanical designs meet customer technical specifications
• Lead continuous improvement activities across the department
• Set clear KPIs for the Mechanical Design Team

Key requirements

• Proven experience leading or managing a Mechanical Design team with development and performance reviews
• Strong mechanical design experience in automation, SPM, robotics or related engineering environment
• Experience delivering projects from concept to manufacture, assembly and commissioning across full lifecycle
• Strong 3D CAD skills and engineering design practices, including drawings, BOMs, design reviews and standards
• Fully fluent IT skills
