Overview
In this role, you support catastrophe risk management for Beazley’s Cyber Risks and Specialty Risks divisions. You will oversee and execute catastrophe modelling, data inputs, and regulatory reporting, while guiding a team of analysts. You’ll present modelling results to governance bodies and contribute to model enhancement and risk insight. The position combines technical modelling with cross-functional collaboration to strengthen exposure management and strategic risk views.
Responsibilities
- Collate cyber and liability portfolios for monthly roll-ups and monitor risk appetites
- Execute catastrophe modelling across internal and third-party models, overseeing Analysts
- Conduct modelling and responses for regulatory reporting (incl. Lloyd’s RDS)
- Run internal probabilistic models under Capital team guidance
- Provide portfolio commentary and governance-facing modelling papers
- Develop and maintain modelling scenarios and vendor models; ensure data quality and input suitability
- Validate and reconcile Delegated Authority data within exposure frameworks
- Engage in strategic discussions on modelling methods and transformation projects
- Provide data insights to Underwriters, Capital Modelling, Risk, and Governance bodies
- Coach and mentor junior team members; line management responsibilities
- Maintain documentation and controls for modelling processes; support SQL-based reporting and dashboards
- Identify process improvements for exposure data and results
- Adhere to Beazley values and regulatory/compliance expectations
Key requirements
- 6+ years in commercial insurance within exposure management, catastrophe risk, or actuarial; cyber & specialty liability focus preferred
- Experience managing a team or individuals (desirable)
- Lloyd’s market experience and RDS knowledge desirable
- Understanding of policy structures and reinsurance essential
- Strong technical skills with advanced Excel; SQL/analytics support knowledge
