Senior Engineer – Building Structures

Overview

As Senior Engineer in WSP’s Building Structures team, you will lead the technical design and delivery of schemes from inception to handover. You will work on diverse, high-profile projects across the UK and internationally, shaping sustainable, innovative structural solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to bids and fees management. Responsibilities

• Own and lead the design process for a range of schemes from concept to construction
• Develop innovative, sustainable structural designs for high-rise, stadia, urban regeneration and more
• Participate in tender bids and business development opportunities
• Agree fees and contribute to project commercial management
• Resolve technical issues with independent judgment and timely delivery
• Mentor and develop junior team members toward Chartership
• Collaborate with other WSP disciplines, external consultants, stakeholders and clients
• Provide specialist advice on sustainable design, net zero carbon, MMC & DfMA
• Support career development and knowledge sharing within the team

Key requirements

• Degree or HNC/HND qualification in a relevant discipline
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
• Solid experience in structural engineering design in all materials
• Strong knowledge of national codes and standards
• Proven ability to produce calculations and understand briefs/scope
• Experience with ETABS, RAM Structural System, Tekla Structural Designer & Tedds
• Experience with Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper beneficial
• Experience working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions
