Overview

In this role you will manage the commercial performance of highways and civils projects across the North West, collaborating with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure profitability and compliance. You will influence project financials from pre-construction through final account and help secure strong client relationships. This position offers impact on major highway and infrastructure work within a growing civil engineering contractor. You will work in a fast-paced environment focused on cost control, risk management, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial aspects of highways and civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts
  • Monitor project costs, variations, forecasts, and cash flow
  • Procure and manage subcontractor packages and payments
  • Support project teams with commercial advice and contractual matters
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and company procedures
  • Produce accurate monthly CVRs and commercial reports
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to maintain strong working relationships

Key requirements

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within highways and civil engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts
  • Experience working on highways maintenance, infrastructure, road improvement, or associated civils schemes
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
