As a Foster Carer you provide a warm, stable, and nurturing home for children in care, supporting their emotional needs and development. You will work within a local government social care framework to advocate for the child, manage daily care tasks, and coordinate with schools and families. The role includes training, supervision, and joining a supportive network of fellow carers to sustain positive outcomes. Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, loving family environment for a child in care
- Take children to and from school
- Attend meetings and support contact with family members
- Advocate for the child’s needs and development
- Foster with supervision and participate in training and support networks
- Engage with the Mockingbird Family Model and related initiatives
Key requirements
- Understanding and resilience with ability to build trusting relationships with children
- Prepared for challenging behaviours arising from past experiences
- Some experience caring for children (not necessarily in a formal setting)
- Capacity to work independently and balance caregiving with other commitments
- No requirement to own a home or be in a relationship
