Overview
In this role you will provide hands-on desktop support within a busy environment, resolving incidents and fulfilling service requests to deliver a responsive, high-quality user experience. You will work closely with Level 3 teams and Project Managers to ensure timely delivery and escalation when needed. The role supports a range of hardware, software and network issues, and requires onsite presence in Preston. This position offers a meaningful impact by maintaining system reliability and contributing to IT service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Handle incidents and service requests to meet SLAs
- Act as 2nd line for incident resolution
- Maintain incident rate target <2% per month
- Complete assigned tasks within deadlines
- Support project tasks for internal/external PMs
- Process non-standard requests within agreed timescales
- Proactively communicate with Level 3 teams on major issues
- Troubleshoot laptop/desktop hardware, networks, printers, etc.
- Install and configure software and hardware
Key requirements
- Windows 10/11 knowledge (build, configuration, registry)
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- LTSC Channels and KIOSK (desirable)
- Basic SCCM/Active Directory understanding
- Networking knowledge (LAN/WAN/VLAN, Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS/WINS, PXE, VPN)
- Exchange environment familiarity, Outlook and IM tools
- Peripherals familiarity (printers, displays, docking stations, etc.)
- ITSM software experience (ServiceNow)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexibility with hours
- Full UK Driving Licence
- SC Cleared or eligible for clearance
