Overview
In this role you translate customer requirements into credible, competitive manufacturing proposals for advanced composite parts. You work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to define feasible manufacturing approaches, costs and risks. You prepare clear quotations and technical-commercial proposals, shaping solutions that align with iCOMAT’s scale-up and innovation mission. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team driving commercial decisions while staying rooted in practical composites manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities
- Review RFQs, drawings and customer requirements to shape proposals
- Develop manufacturing approaches for composite parts and assemblies
- Build estimates covering material, labour, tooling, machining, assembly and bought-out items
- Develop NRE and recurring production costs
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to validate assumptions
- Identify manufacturing, technical and commercial risks
- Prepare quotations and technical-commercial proposals
- Support customer discussions and clarify requirements
- Improve costing tools, estimating processes and proposal templates
Key requirements
- Strong understanding of composite manufacturing (prepreg/dry-fibre, hand lay-up, autoclave/oven processing)
- Experience with composite tooling, bonding and assembly
- Knowledge of CNC trimming/machining, routings and BoMs
- Experience in labour and material estimating and cost modelling
- Familiarity with low-rate or series production environments
- Potentially previous Business Development or proposal experience is useful but not essential
- Background as a Composites Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Estimating Engineer, Project Engineer or NP I Engineer
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to validate feasibility and cost assumptions
