Overview

In this role you will lead cost management for high-profile healthcare projects within Gleeds’ Midlands team, partnering with senior leaders to deliver value and manage risk. You will guide cost estimating, procurement strategies, and contract administration to ensure client requirements are met. You’ll mentor colleagues, win new business opportunities, and contribute to regional growth. This position offers exposure to NEC contracts and a chance to shape cost strategies across healthcare schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Unit Directors to achieve objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships
  • Deliver cost management deliverables aligned with client needs
  • Prepare and present cost estimates, option studies and tender documents
  • Oversee cost planning and cost-in-use studies
  • Advise on procurement strategies and contract methods
  • Manage tender processes, evaluate bids and prepare awards
  • Value completed works and handle payments and final accounts
  • Provide technical advice on contractual and legal issues
  • Mentor and coach team members; identify growth opportunities and support bids
  • Prepare and present reports to clients
  • Manage service delivery for profitability
  • Flag issues impacting professional indemnity insurance to Directors

Key requirements

  • Sound cost management experience post MRICS qualification
  • Experience in cost estimating and planning
  • Cohesive knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Practical knowledge of procurement strategies including tendering and contract choices
  • Post-contract cost management experience
  • Clear, effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Organisational skills and adaptability
  • Excellent negotiation, numeracy and financial management
  • Strong ICT skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a team and absorb complex information
  • Understanding of legislation impacting building contracts
  • Healthcare sector experience required
  • MRICS qualification desirable; NEC contract experience desirable
