Overview

In this AI/GenAI Architect role within Deloitte’s AI&D team in Manchester, you will lead GenAI projects from concept to production and guide data-driven transformations for clients. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable architectures and modern analytics platforms. You’ll work on high-impact, multi-disciplinary engagements across industries, shaping solutions that leverage state-of-the-art AI technologies. Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of generative AI projects from inception to production, meeting scope, time, and budget targets
• Translate client requirements into actionable plans and roadmaps
• Collaborate with PMs, solution architects, engineers, and data scientists to ensure on-time delivery
• Review project deliverables for quality and accuracy; mitigate risks and escalate issues as needed
• Provide technical pre-sales support, including client meetings and technical proposals
• Stay updated on generative AI trends and best practices
• Define and optimise end-to-end data journeys for diverse client portfolios
• Lead architecture considerations for enterprise data lakes and real-time data solutions
• Translate architectural designs into efficient data pipelines on cloud platforms
• Work in agile delivery teams with DevOps practices and modern software tooling
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors to share learnings
• Contribute to thought leadership content on data design, architecture and engineering
• Support hybrid working arrangements and client-site engagements as needed

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Experience leading generative and traditional AI projects across the full SDLC
• Experience leading distributed development teams (offshore/nearshore)
• Proficiency with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
• Strong leadership and communication skills with cross-functional collaboration
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala
• Experience with enterprise data lakes and tools like MS Fabric, Databricks
• Designing real-time data solutions with streaming tech (Confluent, Kafka, Spark, Flink)
• Experience assessing As-Is architecture and defining to-be landscapes
• Translating architectures into efficient data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• RESTful API design for generative AI apps; familiarity with web tech (HTML, CSS, JS, React)
• Proficiency in SQL and database management
• Experience ETL pipelines with Spark; Data Architecture & Modelling
• Experience with Databricks, Dataiku, DataRobot; Docker & Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Git
• Knowledge of Generative AI patterns (RAG, fine-tuning)
• Experience training and deploying ML models using varied techniques
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with technology vendors
