Overview
In this Robotics Engineer role, you will develop and optimise core autonomy algorithms for Jacobsen vehicles, focusing on localisation, navigation and motion planning. You will help move prototypes toward field-ready autonomy and work closely with validation teams to improve real-world performance. The role combines algorithm design, system performance, and simulation to deliver production-grade autonomous capabilities. You’ll operate in a collaborative engineering environment that values practical impact and high-quality execution.

Responsibilities
- Develop localisation algorithms with sensor fusion (RTK GPS, IMU, LiDAR, camera) and fallback strategies
- Design and implement navigation and path planning, including coverage planning and route optimization
- Develop and optimise motion planning and trajectory generation for smoother turns and transitions
- Implement and tune algorithms such as A, Hybrid A, DWA, MPC
- Integrate autonomy algorithms into the ROS2 (or equivalent) stack
- Collaborate with Test & Validation to analyse field data, debug issues, and enhance performance
- Support development and validation using simulation and digital twin environments
- Performs other duties as required
Key requirements
- Experience with localisation, navigation, and motion planning algorithms
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python
- Experience with ROS/ROS2 or similar frameworks
- Understanding of sensor fusion techniques
- Experience with real-time systems and algorithm optimization
